  • Catabasis Pharmaceuticals Inc., a Cambridge, Mass.-based developer of medicines to treat inflammatory and metabolic diseases, has raised $32.4 million in Series B funding. Lightstone Ventures led the round, and was joined by an unidentified “public crossover fund” and return backers SV Life Sciences, Clarus Ventures, MedImmune Ventures and Advanced Technology Ventures.www.catabasis.com
  • CreativeLive, a San Francisco-based live education platform, has raised $21.5 million in Series B funding. The Social+Capital Partnership led the round, and was joined by return backer Greylock Partners. www.creativelive.com
  • GenapSys, a Redwood City, Calif.-based developer of genomic testing systems, has raised $37 million in Series B funding. Yuri Milner and  Stanford StartX Fund were joined by return backers Decheng Capital and IPV Capital. www.genapsys.com
  • Ø     HDmessaging, a Burlingame, Colo.-based provider of a white label messaging service to mobile operators, has raised $3 million in new VC funding. GrandBanks Capital led the round, and was joined by IDG Ventures, Nexit Ventures and Lighthouse Capital Partners. www.hdmessaging.com
  • Jongla, a London-based free instant messaging app aimed at the youth market, has raised €1.4 million in VC funding from Oy Ingman Finance and individual angels. www.jongla.com
  • Kidaptive, a Palo Alto, Calif.-based developer of early-learning curriculum and assessment framework technologies, has raised $10.1 million in Series B funding. Formation8 led the round, and was joined by Menlo Ventures, Stanford StartX Fund, NewSchools Venture Fund and Prana Studios. www.kidaptive.com
  • Knozen, a stealthy “personality-probing” startup from TheLadders founder Marc Cenedella, has raised $2.25 million in seed funding, according to TechCrunch. Backers include FirstMark Capital, Lerer Ventures, Greycroft Partners and David Tisch. www.knozen.com
  • OneSpot, an Austin, Texas-based provider of “content advertising” solutions, has raised $5.3 million in Series A funding. Mohr Davidow Ventures led the round, and was joined by Capital Factory, Mack Capital, RSL Ventures and Brett Hurt (BazaarVoice co-founder). www.onespot.com
  • Qloo, a New York-based recommendation engine, has raised $3 million in seed funding. Backers include Kindler Capital, Danny Masterson, Cedric the Entertainer, Tommy Thompson (Cross Creek Pictures) and Samih Toukan and Hussam Khoury (founders of Maktoob, acquired by Yahoo).www.qloo.com
  • Scoopshot, a Finland-based on-demand mobile photo service, has raised $3.9 million in Series A funding from Conor Venture Partners and Finnish Industry Investmentwww.scoopshot.com

  • WizIQ, a provider of SaaS-based virtual classroom software for teachers, has raised $4 million in Series B funding led by Kaizen, an India-based private equity fund focused on the education sector. Bertelsmann also participated. www.wiziq.com

  • Prosper, a San Francisco-based peer-to-peer lending platform, has raised $20 million in new VC funding. Sequoia Capital led the round, and was joined by return backers like Accel Partners, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Crosslink Capital, Omidyar Network, TomorrowVentures and Volition Capital.   • Puppet Labs, a Portland, Ore.-based provider of IT automation software for system administrators, has raised $30 million in equity funding from VMWare Inc. (NYSE: V).
