PIPELINE – Artificial Intelligence and the attack of the dalek

Happy Thursday! Off to two amazing conferences and will be report back in new segment of our blog posting!

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“By far the greatest danger of Artificial Intelligence is that people conclude too early that they understand it.” – Eliezer Yudkowsky

WHAT IS HOT

AI is hot and I think we need to look at basic Artificial Intelligence / AI and the future.  I want to press back that basic sensors are a form of AI such as a old mercury thermostat vs. today we have “Nest” early to market at leader.  As we push on AI we will see all types of sensors and other items change.  We will try to cover in some areas of interest in the next few days!  And now for some fun with JPEG and YouTube Videos!

COOL JPEG

VC Deals that closed plus your input on Light & Google Ventuers

TOPIC OF THE DAY: Did Light pick the best investors for its C round?

Quote of the Day: “Google Ventures has a direct financial incentive to ensure the companies we invest in succeed.” –  Bill Maris

Investment: $30 million in Series C funding. Google Ventures led the round, and was joined by Foxconn, Paul Jacobs and return backers Bessemer Venture Partners, CRV, Eclipse Ventures and StepStone Group.

About Light via YouTube: https://youtu.be/cW3rx7jiX8E

JD’s Raw Brain Dump: I have seen Motorola, McKesson Corporation, and many other 800 pound gorillas kill many good companies with their term sheets for the intellectual property! Did Light ( www.Light.co ) pick the best investors?  I think Google could be an amazing investor as possible buyer of the technology or it could be future IP play for Google (i.e. the devil is in the details of the term sheet).
